The
letter for today is: W, where I feature winsome
and walnut.
On
an English summer's day, bees buzz amongst the blue rosemary flowers. The
herbal scent rises into the still, hot air. I glance at my daughter, visiting
from Australia. A winsome expression
crosses her face and her eyes focus on something out of my sight.
"What
are you thinking about, darling?"
"The
beach at Noosa Heads." The engaging look on her face takes me back to the
green headland jutting into the blue ocean.
On
the opposite end of the scale, the hard shell around the brain-shaped walnut takes immense effort to crack.
Yet,
underneath both a winsome expression
and a hard walnut shell lies a soft
center worth cracking.
