The
letter for today is: K, where I feature kudos
and kiwifruit.
People
import vegetation from other countries all the time. The plants grow, given the
right conditions. The gooseberry tree, which once grew in China, migrated with
the help of humans to New Zealand. And so Chinese gooseberries became kiwi fruit. To whom do we attribute the
miraculous success—the kudos?
Many
of the best discoveries are made by people whose identity is lost over time.
For instance, who found out which mushrooms are poisonous and which are good?
The dead get no kudos.
One
of the greatest poems ever written, Desiderata, is by author unknown. Yet, the lack of kudos doesn't, in any way, detract from the content.
